and if your a girl would you or have you gone out alone?

haha I guess I would let them go but the problem is I havent had a girlfriend that ever WANTED to go or WOULD go haha

My wife would probably not go out on her own, but I would never think that I had that much right over her to say I would or wouldn't "Let" her go alone.

Besides, she wouldn't get too far barefoot, and I'd notice her missing when the next meal time rolled around.

If you mean out hiking and camping alone, I think it depends on the girl, the location, and her skills. This would likely apply across the board, not just with the ladies....

I had planned to hike alone in the White Mountains, and while he was nervous, Stormcrow knew if he gave me "workshops" on survival skills, I'd be ok. Worst case scenarios must always be considered. While I was aware that hiking alone can make me vulnerable, precautions can help (acquiring a SPOT, checking in, etc.). All gender equality aside, it IS unusual for a female to hike completely alone, and she can possibly run into issues that would not typically happen with men (i.e. other men trying to "babysit" her, etc). That being said, women who insist on hiking solo often do so because they are confident in their ability to take care of themselves. I know quite a few independent women on the trail that have done better than their male counterparts.

I have gone out on my own, but I prefer some company, both for fun and safety. My daughter and I have gone out, just the two of us, all over the place. We've crossed glaciers, been stuck in a whiteout, you name it. I think it's empowering to be out there as a woman, as long as it's in a safe area.
I always carry a pocketknife, 24/7

When my girlfriend was initially unemployed, I sent her off for an AT thru on her own. For the life of me I don't understand why, but she missed me too much and came home after a week.

My girl is plenty tough enough. She knows what she needs to know and a little extra.

Seems to me that this a question for her to decide. Whether she wants to, and decides if her skills and comfort level are there.

Unless the person you're talking about is underage, 'let' doesn't really enter into it.

I'm asking because I would like to get out but it seems no one is ever available when I am or wants to go where I want to go. My first outing would be a well used camp/ trail system "beginner level" witch is basically car camping just not in a "campground". Hubby's thing is the "Deliverance factor"

, and if I where to fall and need help. yes I realize that this can happen. I do have protection( I always carry a campknife, if not 2-3). I know basic first aid. Have been trying to train my dog (Rott) but I don't think he's a camp dog(any dog can be a day hike dog).
I just don't know how to elevate his fears.
