    Any opinions about Kelty Triptease?

I want to buy some inexpensive, reflective line for my tarp. Has anyone used Triptease and had good results on longevity? Is there better and cheaper? If so, where would I find it? My Google-Fu is off tonight and a forums search didn't get me very far either. Thanks for the help!

I have used Triptease and like it. Plenty bright when even a small amount of light hits it. I did find that when it got soaked from rain, it did not seem to reflect well. Also noticed my prussik knots got super tight on it when it got real wet. Still like it for reflective cord though.

I've bought a few 50' hanks of Lawson's Glowwire and find it to be very reflective and strong. Cheaper than Kelty as well.

Triptease works fine. Good line. I use this now though.

I use triptease for my tarp tie outs. I have been happy with it and have no complaints. Provides good visibility of the lines to prevent from tripping over them.

Thanks for the input. It does rain quite a bit here, so I may look at the other stuff. It's a real buzz kill when you have a good time by the campfire just to trip over a black tie out on the way to the hammock...

I use Triptease for my tarp tie outs too. It really reflects the light, especially from an LED headlamp. The reflection is not as great from a incandescent flashlight.

As you can see, many people like it. I found that the outer sheath slipped on the core. I prefer a plain hollow-braid line to kern-mantel, and a bright orange or yellow is visible enough for me. Consider this a minority report.

I found this to be true also. It also seems to have a low resistance to abrasion as well. I used this on a tarp as tie outs to my Y stakes and noticed the line degrading to the point of failure after only a few uses. (wow just realized all the big words in this post - neat)

I have triptease on my old HH tarp and I put a chunk on 3 sides for pullouts on my big Kelty family tent. The reflective properties are good and it seems more "wire like". It's very stiff but holds knots well.

I just bought a hank of the reflective cord from lawson equipment. I'll be trying it out this weekend. At first glance it seems to be slightly bigger in diameter but softer to work with. This line doesn't seem to fuse quite as well as the triptease so I'll have to work on that issue. It also has a single high reflective braid vs the entire sheath of the TT seems to glow. For about 60% of the price I figure it was worth a shot.

    good luck
