Greetings all,
I'm currently in the middle of my AT SOBO Thru Hike. Started July 6th in ME and I got off the trail September 3rd at Duncannon, PA to visit my girlfriend for the week. Turns out also that I had a bad reaction to a poison ivy exposure and have huge weeping sores all over my legs and can hardly walk! Good thing I took the week off! Anyway, I've been sitting on the couch trying to recover and get better by weeks end, and put this video of my hike together. I originally just wanted to make one large film but decided to do it in 2 parts instead. Provided is the first part. I'll post the last part later this year when I'm done with the hike.
There are only a couple shots of my hammock set-up, but I'll provided a brief description of what I'm using.
Hammock - Hyperlite with 2QZQ zipper mod (use figure 8 latching for hang, has been working really great for me)
Tarp - OES Syl Standard w/ continuous ridge line
Bottom Ins - Yeti 3 Season Underquilt
Top Ins - Mamba 3 Season Top Quilt
After over 1000 miles and 2 months on trail I am very, very happy with this setup. I've been in all types of weather from really windy to downpours and have been dry and comfortable in all circumstances. Coolest night dipped just into the 40s so I can't comment on temperatures cooler than that, but I was snug and warm. I look forward to seeing how the quilts hold up in temps in the 30s later this fall.
Well, hope you enjoy the vid as much as I've enjoyed my hike. If you have any questions about my setup and etc for the thru hike please let me know.
Thanks!
