I Stuff it.
Mine's in a sleeve/snake skin. I suppose that counts as being stuffed.
Actually, my tarps are 'stuffed' into the outer mesh pocket of my packs. I don't use stuff sacks in the field. Between my packs being of sufficient size and my gear being (mostly) minimal, I am able to keep all my gear either inside or in one of the side pockets, leaving the large mesh pocket on the back wide open. So, I don't worry about my tarp getting crushed by my other gear. Having it loosely stuffed in the outer pocket makes setting up in the rain very nice as it's quick and I don't have to open my pack in the rain to get to my tarp.
Trust nobody!
I tried folding it, but that seemed impossible. Stuffing is easy. I sort of drape it and sort of fold it a little and then wrap it into a sausage shape then stuff everything in the cuben stuff sack. Any attempt at true folding would end up being stuffing anyway.
When it is wet I wad it up and put it in my mesh pocket until I get a chance to dry it.
My diy C tarp. I loosely fold it in to a 1 ft wide strip then roll it, very little abrasion, gnome
This is essentially where I am at. It's a loose fold. Checking in with Joe at zpacks, he does fold..not that he is the end authority on Cuben, but his experience is pretty good.
One thing I will add that I have become accustomed to with folding is that it is easy (at least for me) to jeep the inside dry. ....which matters to me on a multi day trip or thru hike... We have had several days in a row of set up and take down in rain, but I was able to keep the inside dry. I suppose the same could be accomplished with stuffing by just doing a single find and then pushing the rest in to the mesh pocket or a stuff sack. Since I plan to be out for a couple mire months, I will have to give that a try.
