My Clark will see quite a bit of kayak camping for sure.
I was really happy with how the first night went,
the only strange thing was I felt somehow ‘vulnerable’ from underneath without the solid ground….easy to get used to though.
Vulnerable is a state of mind. I have just completed a little kayak trip down the Delaware River, I took my little sister along for the second year. Well... I must apologize to everyone that was in the Delaware River valley that night as I and every living creature within miles was, I am sure, abruptly woke from blissful slumber by my sisters blood curdling screams. The first scream was a deafening "MICHAEL" followed by a scream that was louder, which I did not believe possible, of "SOMETHING IS TOUCHING ME". At this point I looked to see what was there but whatever it was most likely was nearing the county line at a speed that caused small trees caught in its vortex to be ripped from mother earths grip. My ears have recovered as I was only 40 feet away but now I know that there are things out there in the night and they are dangerous, to one ears.
Whether trail or paddle don't you know
My hammock is the way to go
There peace and solitude I find
To ease all troubles from my mind
Both body and soul revel in delight
As day surrenders to inky night
I thought I would never need a small line level, but now I carry one to get my structural ridgeline slightly higher on the foot end. When the ground is not level, especially as it drops off near the base of a tree, I got tired of guessing at the angle. Works great in the dark when it it even harder to judge. Cheap at Lowe's.
