Color coordinating Top and Under Quilts

No this is not a fashion related thread.

I have two underquilts. A 3S Incubator (in green) for winter, and a Jarbridge River--3oz Climashield (in black) for fall/spring/summer. I am just now purchasing Top Quilts. My first is a 20° Burrow, but I could not decide what color at first. I didn't want everything to be green, (my hammock and quilt are different shades of green as well), and the black did not really appeal to me. Then I had an epiphany. If I ordered it in green, then I would have a match to my 3S Incubator for winter use, and there may be less confusion when I was grabbing a quilt set (both green) as I hurridly run off to camp. Then when I pick up a 40° Burrow this winter for Spring and summer use, I could get it in black to match my warmer weather UQ.

Am I just being a Hammock Dweeb, or is this sound logic?

What your rig looks like reflects your personality whether you make conscience color choices or not. I'm always amazed at the variety of looks I see here on the forums. Everyone's outfit looks a little different from anyone else's and that's part of the fun!

(For my hammock and accessories, I like any color --as long as it's black! )

I am moderately coordinated with my hammock, TQ and UQ. My whoopies do clash, going to have to fix that!

I do like to have my quilts coordinated like that - not for stylistic purposes but for practicality sake.

It is easy to visually recognize your quilts that you have associated with certain temps in the gear closet.

It has worked for me so far.

It also helps to tell top quilts from underquilts. Use four different colors. You could find a third shade of green for your summer TQ. Then use gray for the winter TQ. Of course, I like the two sides of my TQ to be different colors, so you could do that, too. Then, also it's sometimes tricky telling the head end of a quilt from the foot end, so .... (How many colors are we up to?)

My hammocks, tarps and bags coordinate. Even my gear bags, kayaks and camp chairs coordinate.

Whatever strikes the fancy is what I get at the time. I tend to be more of an earth toney type but if a good deal rolls around for bright yellow (or whatever) i could care less (especially if the deal is that good).
