    Hanging in Upstate New York

So... we have at least 4 people up here. We've got Crawfish from Utica, fildogg from somewhere further west, and there was a fella from Syracuse who joined recently, I forget his handle. Who would like to do a group hang up here somewhere? Before it gets too cold. Maybe October?

If we get a show of hands we could then decide on the place, based on where everyone is coming from. There's some nice places around Syracuse, but the Adirondacks is only 2 hours from here and I know some places up there we could camp from cars.

    Whaddya say?

A lot of good hangin' spots in NY. If the date works, count me in.

I'm moving sometime this month so the hangs that I was planning or debating on are out of the question. So an October hang sounds good to me, if it is in the Adirondacks.

    When and where?

Scheduling gets tough with the kids back in school, but I'm certainly up for the possibility of hanging out in the woods.

For those further west, like Rochester or Buffalo, would an Adirondacks hang be too far? Early October would be great leaf peepin' time up there. Maybe a bit past its peak but still gorgeous.

Moose River Plains near Inlet would be good for a car camp but October is hunting season and the area's campsites could be taken. It's first come first served there.

OK, I will throw a date out.

How about the Saturday/Sunday October 15/16?

If we make it Moose River Plains I could make a few big signs and put them out for people to find us. It's a huge area with over 100 campsites.

The Adks are definitely not too far for me. However, my october is already booked up with two trips to the adks. And she who must be obeyed only lets me out every other weekend.

A bunch of us are getting together for a hike and hang in the High Peaks during the weekend of September 24-26...

    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=36841

I am generally in for one camping trip per month outside of my family trips, and am booked for September and October, but would love to get something on the books for November or December...

There are some great spots up here near me, but I recognize that I live too far North for lots of folks, and am certainly willing to head South to meet up with fellow hangers at a more central location...

Weekend of MAHA so I was thinking of going there but walking far may be an issue. If there is a drive in in NY I would be a maybe from Rochester.
