Sorry folks, I have to back out. I can deal with the weather but I can't deal my right leg that is going into muscle spasms when I push it at all. Hopefully this will get sorted out by spring and we can try again. I hope some of you post pic's of the weekend.

Won't be making it out to meet you all, too much work this weekend. But I'll scope out some local possibilities for next time. I have an idea in the FLNF.

    Have fun!

I will still go. I don't think the weather will be too great, so I will probably not get there until after lunch. I don't mind hanging in the rain at all, but I don't want to be sitting in my car or under my tarp all evening and with no campfire to sit around. That's no fun :-P

I'm still going too. I left a PM for CrackMunk. Haven't heard anything yet.

If there is only going to be a couple hangers look around a bit. The main attraction of site 7 was the large clearing up the hill to the right. OTOH that clearing is pretty sheltered and there is a fire hole up there so it still may be best. I would not look for a site past the first sign about a Conservation Easement. You will do a lot of bad road to the next one. That still leaves 10-12 sites to choose from. You will also want a rake to clear out around the fire. There were a lot of down leaves when I was there.

North Lake is the headwaters of the Black River. Not too far downstream from the dam at the outlet of the lake is a place where the river bends towards the road and there's a parking pull-off there. It's not too hard to see the pull-off. Walk down to the river from there and start fishing. The brookies ought to be wearing their bright fall colors right about now.

The new state record brookie was recently caught in South Lake.

A section of the North Country Trail is going to be routed very close to where you guys are going to be camping. It's supposed to pass near Little Woodhull Lake.

If you're feeling energetic, and don't mind wet boots, hike out to Sand Lake Falls. The falls themselves aren't huge, but it's a neat place regardless. D'Tape has some history there. Ask him and he might tell you about it sometime.

It never really happened Crackmunk. Veto called me, site 7 had a river running through it. It was only going to be him and me (and you I thought at the time, so I sent you a PM). It was raining a lot and with no chance for a campfire etc I decided to bail. Veto stayed up there Friday night but I think he left on Saturday.

That's a bummer, especially as I don't think there's much chance of organizing another one before next year. Unless anyone wants a winter hang?
