Tarp repair help
So, I'm making another tarp and I noticed a problem with the fabric that I bought.
It looks like the fabric has separated in some places and I was wondering if you guys could help me out with suggestions on how to fix it. I was thinking about spreading some silnet over it, but I'm not sure if that would work. Is a patch my only option? I posted some pics below and the white you see is the light coming through the tarp. Thanks a lot guys.

Looks serious. Send it back, if you can. If you can't, yank on it hard to see if it's weak everywhere.
I can't. I have been doing so many gear projects, I forget to look over the fabric before I made the tarp. I didn't even notice it until I was laying in my hammock underneath it and saw the light. I know, I'm an idiot.Originally Posted by WV

I've had separation of the threads exactly like that on a piece of gear. I noticed that you can GENTLY move the threads back to a more normal position and the "see through" lines kinda disappear. (If you go too far, they kinda REAPPEAR elsewhere!) But, I think--if you're patient--you can tease those threads back into position. I don't think any of the threads are torn, so--theoretically--the strength of your fabric is only minimally compromised. It's a weft and welt thing! Good luck, Brother Fronkey!

I buy moving th threads back bot then I would seal it and patch it. Was it hit by falling objects there?
what about using a needle injector and put some fabric glue in it and pucnture just the botton layer once and put some glue in it and then use like a credit card to smooth the fabric back down and then way something flat and heavy "like a big book" on it till it dries the glue should seal the small hole.
The thing is, it's a tarp. So, even if I manage to get the threads back in place, I still have to seal it.
Nothing fell on it, I just bought Silnylon 2nds. Which I usually have gotten perfect fabric, but this time no such luck.that's what I get for going cheap.

Hmmm I'd go for putting some heavy seam sealer on. Maybe you could use someting a little more heavy duty like super glue and spread it out thin? I'm not sure how well it adheres to silicone products. I wouldnt be surprised if there is some sort of super glue thats silicone based that would work out.
I just set it up in my basement and am going to try moving the threads around and then brush on a few layers of the silnet. I'm thinking if I do nice thin layers it just may work. Then I'm going to spray the crap out of it with the hose. lol I'll keep you all updated and thanks for the suggestions.
