Im new. GT or ENO? Double or Single?

Im planning on getting a hammock in the next few weeks.. seems that GT and ENO theres not really any major advantage with either. Any preferences? More importantly, will I be fine with a single wide? Im going for leisure, but also some weekend hiking trips. Because of cost Id like to go with single if I can get a good lay in it. im 6 0 180

My first hammock was an ENO DoubleNest, and I still use it for daytrips. I've never used a GT, but I hear good things. As far as double or single, I'm 6' and 150, and I prefer the double - it's easier to lay at an angle in a double, in my experience. If you end up with an ENO, you will definitely want to switch out the suspension, those biners are heavy, and the SlapStraps are junk.

Many will recommend double for more comfort. Easier to lay diagonally.

I think alot of us around here started with ENO double nests. They are good hammocks. Personally though, I would have spent my $65 on a GT Skeeter Beater Pro if I had known better or done more research. I just couldn't wait to start hanging.

This! But if you want cheaper/lighter the regular Skeeter Beater is also a great buy at $40-$45 on Amazon. It's slightly smaller than the pro and not made from the parachute style nylon, but 12 oz. and gets the job done. My buddy is 6' and about 180 and he loves his.

both are fine hammocks I own an ENO double and a GT single, though for leisure and being a full time hanger I prefer the double. I pretty much just use the single when camping or when i decide to hang on the spur of the moment (it lives in my truck). for me the only downfall to the single is that i sometimes feel the seems where the panels meet because the stitching does not stretch the same as the rest of the hammock does. i'm also slightly larger than you @ 6'1" and 225

First: Welcome to HF from central FL!
Second: I'm 6'1"+ & 170# and I own an ENO DN. I need the extra width to get a comfortable lie with a little wiggle room too.
You'll either spend the extra $10 for the DN upfront or you'll spend it when you buy your second hammock.

I like my hammocks like I like my trailers, so I'd say go double wide...

    I love my ENO DN.
