ENO slapstraps vs all others ?

I am new to hammock camping and got the first thing I saw ENO double nest and slap straps. I love them both and the slapstraps seem so easy to set up and take down. After finding this forum though I feel like there is something better then slap straps. So im just looking for the easiest and best way to hang my mock. Thanks

I started out with an ENO and slapstraps.. The slapstraps definitely seem great at first, but they stretch considerably, and I don't think they ever stop stretching. Nowadays, I use tree straps, Marlin spike hitch with a toggle, and whoopie slings to the hammock. All 4 of my (semi-)frequently used hammocks use this configuration, and so does my girlfriend's. It seems to be the lightest-weight suspension around, and its really versatile and easy to use. Other people use cinch buckles, triglides, descender rings, clips, biners, and so on, but I've found what I like best and I'll stick with it for now.

Trust me, though, this is the place to be if you're gettin' into hammocking. There are great people on this site, and the wealth of information is pretty overwhelming at first, but you'll love it here. Welcome to the forum!

I have used the slap straps and currrently use whoopies with the marlin spike and toggles. The whoopies are just as easy to use, adjustable, lightweight and save space.

I never expereinced stretch with the slapstraps but dtill prefer the whoopie slings.

i had the crap straps, and while you think theyre easy, wait till you see whoopies and tree huggers in action.

and 0 stretch once you set it up right.

if youre a beginner, straps are ok. but if you want to really use your hammock, there are several other options to consider.

Swapped my slap straps for whoopies. Like others have said they stretch.

I also added a WBBB to my selection of hammocks. Love that as well!

My problem with slap strap type suspensions is you are extremely limited to you adjustments. I use ring buckles. Infinite adjustments up to the length of the straps.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Ring buckles and webbing is a great options. As Ramblinrev said adjustment of the slap straps is limited and with ring buckles you can tighten and loosen easily to dial it in. Check out Shug's video on suspension for a look.

I am fairly new to this as well i have an ENO DN and slap straps. Just converted to whoopies/tree huggers w/ marlin spike and a whoopie structural ridgeline. It makes a world of a difference. You know how when you set it up you have to hang it about 2 to 3 feet above where you will actually hang when you get in? Once you get whoopies and a structural ridgeline that immediate as well as delayed sag goes away almost completely. Definitely worth the investment or the time (DIY).

PS the difference between the slap straps and the tree huggers are that the slap straps are made of nylon (stretchy) and the tree huggers are made of polyester (awesome). It may seem more complicated to go this route but it is nearly as fast to setup and allows for even the slightest adjustments
