well, it really boils down to personal preference. My first DIY tree huggers had loops sewn in every 18" and I used carabiners until I had to set up on a really STEEP hill and one of my loops gave way, dumped me and I caught myself before falling too far. Since then, I use a single strap and a deer antler in a marlin spike. I can now adjust my hang as I need more easily. Careful tying loops in your hangers since a knot can be the weak link in a strap and can damage the strap if not tied correctly. Plus, I get to use one more piece of the deer I harvest
