    maybe blanket or pad

This question is for anyone that knows something about welding. I was looking at the local Northern Tool store today and saw a welding pad/blanket that is lightweight and very heat resistant. For those that know would this work to keep body heat in and or cold out? Could it be used as a over or under quilt or just as a pad? Just wondering, here's the link http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...2391_200332391 tnhillbilly

Sorry, that type of blanket, or any type of welding blanket, has little or no insulation value. They are designed to be fire retardant, not to hold heat in. I never enjoyed snuggling up with the fiberglass ones, and carbon fiber doesn't sound too inviting either.

Thanks folks, I don't know anything about welding. I just saw a 18"x18" pad of the carbon fiber today. I took it out of the box and it was very lite-weight and did not feel scratchy at all. Since insulation is trapped air between fibers I thought maybe it might work for a pad at least. Thanks again, tnhillbilly
