    Actual weight of HH Scout?

    Hi all,

I am wanting to get my girlfriend a hammock. She likes my WBBB 1.1 DL. She is about 5'3" 105 lbs and so I was thinking we could lighten her load (and make it smaller and cheaper) by going with something like an HH Scout (ideally Zip but if someone has real world weights a Classic would be fine)

I went to the HH site and it claims...

    - the Scout is 2 lbs 10 oz on the Hammocks Page
    - the Scout is 2 lbs 11.5 oz on the Customize the Scout Zip Page
    - the Scout is 2 lbs 11.5 oz on the Customize the Scout Classic Page

It also claims the Standard Scout Rainfly is 10.5 oz.

Assuming the lighter 2 lbs 10 oz weight and that it includes the 10.5 oz fly that means the hammock + suspension still weighs 31.5 oz.

My WBBB 1.1 DL (which is larger & double layer) is supposed to weigh 27 oz with the suspension. (I haven't actually weighed it and am on travel right now).

How could the smaller Scout be so much heavier? Even the HH Expedition claims to weigh 1 oz less @ 2 lbs 9 oz on the Hammocks Page. What gives?

Does anyone have an HH Scout Hammock (no rainfly) they could weigh to give me an idea of the accuracy of the weights on the HH site?

    Thanks,
    Sean

    According to the Specs page
    Scout Zip: http://hennessyhammock.com/catalog/specs/scout_zip/
    Expedition: http://hennessyhammock.com/catalog/s...tion_asym_zip/

The Scout packs down to a larger volume then the Expedition.

However, the Scout is listed as being made with a lighter material (200D vs 210D) and having smaller dimensions (100"x48" vs 100x52")

Can any Hennessy Experts explain this weirdness?

    Thanks,
    Sean

I just weighed my son's classic model Scout and without the suspension and with 2 12" continuous loops on the ends it weighs right at 25oz with stuff sack.

I never weighed it with the stock suspension.

My Expedition in the same configuration is 1 oz. lighter.

That may not help, but that's all I can do.
If your lucky enough to be outdoors, your lucky enough!

    Thanks AScott, that does help.

I'm sure the stock suspension isn't that much heavier, it is a good data point.

The expedition being 1 oz lighter then the scout is an even better data point.

However, if anyone else can post other data points it would be appreciated.

I think I'll email HH too.

    Thanks,
    Sean
