I had the opportunity to stop at the 501 trail head today while driving home for a work-related site visit. I walked along the trail (northbound) and found the shelter there. Is that where you guys hang? Is parking allowed overnight at the trail head?

I would like to try to get out one more time this year, but I’m running out of opportunities. If you are interested I may still try to pull off a section hike NOBO on the AT from Eckville to Smith Gap over three days and two nights. If I can’t make that work I may go shorter and just try to make it to Palmerton over a weekend. The two weekends I think I could possibly go would be 11/11-13 and 11/19-20. If you are interested just let me know and I will try to work out the logistics.

I am visiting this weekend and will def have my hammock out one block off the Susquehanna river...right next to the Army Reserve base...have some UQ ideas I am testing out. Need to leave NYC to find some quiet time (and some trees) to do some testing. Wish I could join the hang...

Umm, the western or southern trailhead, the one on rt 87 may not be accessible. Rt 87 took it hard from loyalsock creek during the flooding. Last I knew, they were only letting locals go up 87.

Not sure what the situation may be then, but may not hurt to check before then.

I will be coming up to the York area in March. Anyone planning a hang near that area? (South of Harrisburg) I am hoping for the weekend of the 10th.
