Check this thread. Brian says that Spinn tarps are out of stock - maybe for good. Spinn tarps are getting hard to find.

If you bought an OES tarp and did not like it for whatever reason, it will sell here for near to your original investment. It may be worth it to take a small hit to try it out.

Sell it on eBay and it will likely sell for more than the purchase cost. I've seen them go for as much as 40% above the price on eBay.

Thanks for the info about Brian's health + delays + SpinnUL scarcity.

According to that same thread (or maybe another in that forum) there are a couple other manufacturers who might still have SpinnUL available. I'll be emailing them to see if they have stock & what the QC looks like.

Silnylon has been used perfectly fine for years by thousands of hangers and ground campers alike without issue. Misting has only ever been confirmed in second-run silnylon, and some highly-worn examples. Bear in mind that some of the reports are also of rain knocking condensation free from the underside of the tarp. First-run material (like you'd get from OES or many other reputable makers) won't present a misting issue at all.

That's not to say that Cuben and Spinn aren't fine choices, because they certainly are...but Silnylon should not be overlooked based on false reporting.
I agree that the problems with sil are overstated. It is a good mix of price and protection. However, I have seen that even good quality sil can "spit" a little mist at you. The first time I used my MacCat Deluxe, i got little "flicks" of water on my face in a fierce downpour. It hadn't been raining long enough for water to run down the ridgeline (i'm pretty sure). It also wasn't coming directly from the middle of the tarp where the ridgeline was. I just read a good post on another topic that suggested hanging sil a little looser. I will try that next time. The bottom line is that misting seems only to occur in a really heavy rain and the misting I saw was a very very very small annoyance and is not a concern of mine. I like the sil and am sticking with it.
