raiff i got a funny story for ya.
i grew up in lexington sc most of my formative years, and my best friend was about as country as you can get. in the area, our hood was redneck mecca. lets put it this way (and this isnt made up...sadly), his dad worked for southeastern freightliners, and passed away with a bud in one hand from a fire started by his cigarette watching NASCAR. at least he was happy...
anyway, he loved to work on stuff altho he had NO mechanical ability, so like most kids from my school he went into the military.
me went to specialize as a submarine maintenance guy (basically doing everything to do with the motor and mechanics...all i know) and passed everything.
until the day he did his first live dive....apparently he went thru dry runs in the classrooms and on land, but when it came to the dive, he turned claustrophobic and panicked. he had to be sedated until they went back to wherever it deployed from (i think he said a carrier, im not sure). Instant Sec8.
after i finished laughing i kinda felt bad, but still funny..

REV,
I have seen that happen a few times. Most people are made of stronger stuff...as they are all volunteers on subs...anyways those that can't handle it...well lets just say we were very practiced at breaking them....and after they broke, they were either pretty cool and things were great...or they got out...sect8!

yeah, bobby wasnt a military guy at all. i was always his guardian growing up, and it shocked the heck out of me when i hear what he was doing. but yeah, his career didnt last too long unfortunately. i loved that guy, but it just wasnt for him. takes a special kind.
anywho, my new mo'betta UQ is on the way, so we shall see!!!

Hey Rev,
You still planning to make the Grayson Highland thing the 23rd??? If the toe is still a problem, we can "fix" it. And you will get your WBBB fixed also.

So many trees, so little time...
Did 3 years on a sub, had the below decks watch and escorted a new kid to the mess deck until the XO could see him. Within 30 minutes he was white as a ghost and shaking like a leaf.Took him back topside, never saw him again. As to your trip I was imagining the deer running thru the hammocks tearing them down with you in them. Then the rangers coming because of the noise and telling you couldn't hang a hammock there. I was sitting here laughing at my own mental imagineering. Yes it could have been worse.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.
hahaha. well, heres the honest list:
2 Eno's/whoopies.
WBBB/dutch clips
GTUL (mine but is a cheapie loaner only.....cant hold my fat butt, no official suspension....)
Superfly tarp/tarp flyz
PLUQ (cool idea,but barely functional.)
"PLTQ" (just a poncho liner with the bottom tied off. nothin fancy)
"in the mail": 3/4 synthetic UQ, Tarp Skins and Synth pillow.... (sold a custom helmet to get those...)
I went on a trip with a huge tent on a moped, so that sucked. the hammock i always wanted to use, with my trips and such. and while ive had a few "overnight" backyard hangs and a lot of "urban lounging", nothing more.
and i should still make grayson RockDawg, unless this gets really bad. probably wont be doing a lot of wandering tho.
