    I do not like tents

I know they have their purpose and I am sure sometimes it may be a better option but, whenever I do a trip by myself something usually goes wrong with the tent, fiberglass pole splits, critter chews hole in floor to get to cheese nips while I'm off hiking then it rains like hell and I do not have any duct tape. Bad zippers, huge spiders trapped inside that I spot but, can't find in the middle of the night. I could go on and on ( really I could ) so I started packing a parachute hammock and loved it and thats why I'm a member so I can upgrade and get a system for Winter trips, though, my Eureka tent has never failed me as a Winter basecamp tent, so it is the exception. I have decided on the GrizzBridge and will post a pic when I have finished it. Thanks for reading my ramblings and have a nice day

    Tents are great!

You can use them to keep the beer cooler in the shade and they also make a great work space when working with down. Just bring your sewing machine, materials, and vacuum into your tent (set-up in your living room, of course) and you can make down gear without lining the interior of your home with down bunnies.

    Long live tents!
    Trust nobody!

    Tents used to be great.

    When I was younger.
    When I was spryer.
When I was starting to backpack and canoe camp.
Before there were GOOD camping hammocks.

I have not had the problems with tents that you have noted! My TNF and Sierra Designs and MSR tents have served me well. Still have a couple of MSRs that I am loathe to part with.

But as I search my memories of all of the bad tent sites I have pitched tents in, and considered how well a hammock would have worked in those applications, my back gives a little groan of complaint. I just wish that good hammocks had been on the market 40 years ago! (showing my age)
