Tarp over or under ridgeline?

I've read a lot of posts on this forum, and there seems to be a divide between those who hang their tarp under the continuous ridgeline (with prussiks and such) and those who hang the tarp over the CRL.

I'm wondering, what are the pros and cons of each?

I know that hanging the tarp above the ridgeline can add support to the tarp. I know that without drip-lines water can seep under the tarp. I was also wondering if maybe the ridgeline could damage the tarp through abrasion over time. Has anyone had experiences with this?

Hanging the tarp under the ridgeline seems to offer an ease of adjustment (by sliding the prussiks)

Anything else to add for pros and cons?

Which do you prefer?

Hmmm,
I'm actually doing both. I put the tarp on top of the ridgeline but each end is held in place with a klemheist knot and s-biner. I tie up the ridgeline, attach the tarp, then slide it one way or another to center it over the hammock. Lastly I stake out the sides and I'm done.

I don't do it personally but RL below tarp gives you a place to hang stuff like wet clothes etc. There is also more support if for example you are in some wet snow.

I'm probably paranoid but I never liked the RL rubbing under my tarp and I like the natural curves of the tarp ends when suspended from a RL above the tarp.

I chose to hang my tarp under my ridgeline just for ease of adjustment.

I'm definitely leaning towards hanging my tarp under the ridgeline

The maiden voyage this past weekend with my new tarp (Warbonnet Mamajamba) had me hanging the tarp UNDER the ridgeline (as many others seem to prefer). It definitely made adjustments incredibly easy. I use Dutch hooks and flyz for the setup of everything.

Finishing up a DIY 12'. Have been hanging it for sil application and drying with mason cord whoopies from the center end loops and no RL above or below. Are center support loops necessary or not? If so this is the time to add them.

I hang my tarp from the center ridge tie-outs. I used to just use a simple taut-line hitch, but recently switched to figure9s for the fun of learning something new. The 9's are easy, that's for sure. Should work well in colder weather too- I can work them with gloves on!

My Ogee is suspended with Dynaglide and figure 9s at the loops. I do not use a continuous ridge line.

I don't get the over/under adjustability issue. You can use prussic sliders in either case. It comes down to either let the tarp rub on the ridge area or put the strain of hanging on the center seam. Pick your poison.
After the thread about the broken ridge line and seeing Shug's last video I am re-thinking how tight to string a ridge line on smaller trees with much wind. ;-)
