How do you tie a double sheet bend for a hammock

I have been reading for a little while about the double sheet bend knots. I have not been able to find any pictures about how to tie it in a hammock suspension. I have seen quite a few descriptions of how to do it, but I'm a visual learner, and I was hoping that someone has a video or a few pics of how to do this. I did see this link that slowhike posted, but I'm not sure if this is even the sheet bend. My question is, how does the end of the fabric not slip through, espically with the method used in these videos. Thanks for the help.

Thanks guys, but I've seen both of these, but how do they figure into the suspension of a hammock? Are they used to tie a line to the whipping of a hammock? Are they somehow tied to the actual hammock? I know how to tie the knot, but what is the purpose in this knot with respect to hammocking?

Yes the hammock is one of the "ropes"

Think of the hammock as the rope that forms the "U" and the suspension rope as the rope you are looping around and thru it. It serves as the "whipping" and attachment at the same time.

Great! This is what was throwing me off. Thanks. I've also heard of making this a "slippery" knot. How is this done, and does it still work for hammocking? Also, I still don't know, what keeps a piece of fabric without a hem from slipping through this knot? And finally, is there a way to make this knot have two ends sticking out (one out of each side) to make hanging this hammock easier?

Look at the bottom pics to learn how to make the slippery knot.

Not sure what you are asking

Hemming is probably recommended with any hammock but I have not had the material slip on me with this knot

Not sure what you are asking
Is there a way to make the knot in the middle of a strand of rope so that you can wrap the tow ends around a tree? This way you cold have more tying options instead of trying to wrap one long strand. Not sure if this is any clearer, but I hope it is .

Is there any advantage over the double sheet bend (i.e. better hold, security, or strength)?
