    Caldera Cone Storage

I don't know if I posted in the right spot or not, but I just picked up a Caldera cone (trying to get away from wasteful butane stoves) and I am waiting on a Heiny pot (last one on ebay!). How do you store your cone? My mess kit will be the Caldera kit, a GSI fairshare mug, spork, and a small snowpeak single walled cup. I am trying to conserve as much space as I can...so what tricks/tips do you have?

I have a Fosters caldera, everything fits inside it. I don't think the Heiny does that, but maybe?

Consider making the Heiny pot and mug one and the same, and ditch your other mugs-- they're redundant; eat and drink from the same vessel; eat, while drinking water from a bottle to wash things down if necessary, then make a hot drink in the same mug, or vice versa. Saves 100% of the weight and bulk of your other mugs...

I have the Caldera Cone Keg-H, and everything fits inside the cozy/stuff sack it comes with.

I had a DIY caldera cone I made and carried it flat against the pad in my backpack. The Snow Peak cup I used was stored with other goodies in a small stuff sack. That worked pretty well until I got a 2-piece cone (top & bottom) from traildesigns.com that actually fit inside my SP 600 cup.

Store the cone inside the can

That's what I do. I use the fosters can, just about everything fits inside. I cut a plastic bottle up to line the inside of the keg to prevent scratching and makes it easier to get the cone in and out.

By the way if you use the keg-H grab as many of the Heiny cans as you can because they are not making his style can any more. Thats why I went with the fosters keg-F model.

I am trying to find more Heiny cans as it is. I am waiting on the one from ebay right now **fingers crossed** I thought about ditching the mugs, but I will be boiling water for 2, so I will at least need to take something to eat out of...the snow peak mug I usually dont take, but since I have it, I like to use it occasionally. Thanks for the ideas!

I think you can still boil water for two. Ditch the mugs and go freezer bag cooking. Eat out of the bag. Get some lite foldable cups for drinking.
