A short 30ish mile hitch, a stealth camp somewhere. Hook up with MML and spend a night at his house . Then on to Gathland for the pre hike! Whew! A lot of adventure just gettin started! I hope that time slows down and it will be a never ending 10 or 12 day deal.

The time was a wild guess. Now meeting Bear Chaser in Elkins, 3 hours from Gathright, about 10:30. We're content to hike our own hike and look forward to seeing folks on the trail eventually, so don't wait at the parking lot for us.

Can't believe I'll be on the trail in three days; really looking forward to it. Planning on pre-hike starting at Harper's Ferry Thursday arriving at Gathland on Friday.

Can somebody give me a ride back to my car on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning?

    Gathland meeting time

MML, Two Tents, Black Wolf -
let me know what time you want to meet at Gathland.
Bear Chaser and WV had mentioned noon and they will probably want to hike at their own pace. i can meet at any time, and i will walk at any pace that EVERYONE is comfortable with. i'm there to enjoy good company and scenery - and by the looks of the weather reports - to try and stay dry!!

Noon is good for me ... I'm flexible as to time ... we'll more then likely camp at the Ed Garvey Shelter (EGS)... it's the only place that camping is permitted ... and it's only about 4 miles there ...

I'll only carry 1.5L of water to get to EGS ...I can carry 3L with no problem... and I have the capacity to carry an additional 14L ... 17L total ... I'll have a water filter with me as well ..

I also have no problem scrambling the side trail at EGS to get water for everyone if needed ... but like WV said ... I'll be catching it off my tarp ...

Things are looking up! At least for Thu/Fri. Wednesday is still a bit wet.
