I thought I would post my Grizz style bridge hammocks. Grizz makes it look easy in the videos, but it's not easy to put one together and make it look right. Having never really sewn anything before I was hesitant to take it on, but the sewing was fun!
The endcaps are confusing at first, but after you understand what you are doing you can make them look how you want them to. The bug net is the hardest. Sewing the net is real easy, but making it look right with tension on it is hard. I also would have never imagined how much bias tape it takes to do one of these hammocks.
Grizz was good enough to answer my continuous barrage of questions. Thanks Grizz!
The first pic is my first attempt. In the end it came out nice, but there were several things I did that I wanted to fix in my next version. I chose a light color to make it easier to sew and see my stitches. The color silver grey wasn't what I thought it would be as I expected something darker. In the end I kind of like it.
The next 3 pics are of my Bengal Bridge. It doesn't have the bug screen yet, but it will. I added some depth to the end caps, especially at the head, because I found it great to stuff socks or a shirt or what ever.It will also have a pocket at the head when I am done.
I'll start the under quilt soon. Burnt Orange to go with Bengal!
