    Hello From South West Ohio!

Hello all! I have lurked here before but it has been a while. I'm very new to hammock hanging and have yet to officially hang around. I picked up two brand new military hammocks at a Ham fest (yup, I am a ham radio guy) I paid $5 for both of them, they're still in the plastic bags that they came in. I hope tomorrow to build a sling support and try one out. They are very heavy and cotton. They are the item that has started this fire in my head. I love the idea of building my own and being able to use it. I have learned volumes from the forum here and figured Iwould take a moment to introduce myself.

My family and I love to camp, and do anything that involves being outside. (usually in a pop up camper, please don't stone me, we have 3 little ones and it really makes camping possible with them ). My oldest just started as a cub scout and I think this will be a fun project for us to work on together.

    best,

    Welcome,

Great place to hang and to get great advice and ideas from the many good and experienced folks on HF. I got a good piece of advice posted by KerMegan on my Intro Post. Which I'll share with you-

KerMegan wrote: "and the best advice I can give is keep an eye on the 'trip planning forum'- likely there will be a group gathering you can get to, and it is an excellent opportunity to see many set-ups and brands of gear all in one place. or peruse the Diy gear making arena, and get ideas for making your own, or getting started on the cheap (especially if you can beg/borrow a sewing machine- aka 'thread injector', or know someone who sews and might owe you a favor..)
have fun with the learning curve! it is all good.. KM (who has more then a few projects in progress -also known as UFO's or Un-Finished Objects..sigh)
