Attached is a map of my proposed hike for Saturday. It is a bit longer than I would like (8 miles) but there is just too much that I want to show everyone! If nothing else it will at least help you sleep well Saturday night

There are several opportunities for people to cut it short and not run a risk of getting lost but I would recommend that everyone stick around for at least the bonsai cypress trees (at the northernmost end of the hike). I'll talk to everyone about it before we leave. There are lots of options to make it possible for just about anyone.

Best of luck capturing it on pixel... I've never been able to but maybe if you are willing to wade through a bit of water and stand next to them it might show up better. I'll be glad to take the picture for you. They are amazing trees (two of them next to each other).

Hmmm... I tried to make it out along the trail to make sure that I could get out to the bonsai cypress this afternoon. It turns out that the trail along the lake is now the lake

We might need to discuss further to see how motivated people are to go out and see them now.

I tried putting the GPS coordiinates into microsoft streets and trips and got a location down by Sebring near Lake Istokpoga.

Is the green dot in your hike trail attachment the campsite??

    Thanks

Yep, that is the camp site. I got those coordinates from Google Earth, not from a gps unit, so who knows how accurate they are. Make sure you are using the correct format. These are in hours minutes seconds. A gps can be set up that way or it can be set up for hour minutes and the minutes has a decimal for the seconds. I'm not sure if that would be enough to get you that far off or not but I'm sure it would make a difference.

If you go up highway 27 to Avon Park and then take a right (headed east) onto highway 64 and follow it almost all the way to the bombing range gate then the camp site is just north of the road. You can go directly there if you want but we will be meeting north of there since you can get driving directions to "Rucks Dairy road Frostproof, FL" and Google Maps will take you right to where you need to go.
