    Your favorite convertible hammock?

    I need your help!

I've owned both a Hennessy and a WBBB with integrated bugnets, but now I'm looking to get that wind in my hair topless feeling. There's a number of factors, and each persons' sleep preference is an individual thing, but I'd like to hear your specific thoughts.....

What's your favorite open air hammock and why?

Hopefully your comments will help narrow down my options or inspire me to start a DIY project. I'm 6' 180lbs. I fall asleep on my back but almost always end up side/fetal before morning.

    Grand Trunk

I like the Grand Trunks. Specifically the nano 7 for the weight. This hammock has changed the way I hike. I'm well below 10lbs base weight for 3 seasons and with out this hammock, I would not have thought possible. Comfortable too, just my not be the most durable. I also have the GT ultralight and for $20 it's not a bad hammock. I ordered a WB Traveler but have yet to try it.

Good luck in choosing. I doubt that I'll ever go back to integrated bugnets again (famous last words).

Clarks! They are not just my favorite open air hammocks but my favorite overall. Why? Because they are so convertible. Especially my latest addition the TX-250. The meeting zips completely out of your way. No ridgeline to get in the way. No aide tie-outs to get in the way. A separated tarp to be able to pull back if mo rain. Of course when the weather or bigs get bad you can just zip up that bug net and weathershiels, put the tarp up and you are totally protected.

If you still have the Hennessy, you could send it to 2QZQ for a mod 4 like I did with mine.

It's everything I love in a SB - easy hang, no calf ridge, COMFORT - and no net.

DIY bridge. Haven't even tried to make one with a net. Flat. No ridge. No fabric flapping in my face. Mine had a deep enough cut on the side I can curl up on my side without problems.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm very interested in your head-head comparison of the GT vs WB.

Love the pic! I owned the TTTG Lighthiker (I should have mentioned that) but found it a little too snug for my liking. How much bigger is the SB? 20%, 30%?

I'm not as concerned about weight as others, so a bridge is definitely an option. How deep is the cut (for side sleeping)?

I'm 5'11" and wouldn't consider anything under 120" hammock body. My ENO DN is just a bit short for a comfy night's sleep. I slept like a baby the first night in my BlackBird (thanks Tendertoe) and after some testing I'm sure my Traveler will be just as comfy.
