Hybrid 1/2 LW UQ Climashield & Down

I finally got around to making a lighter weight 1/2 UQ for some upcoming hikes. Dutch, Grizz, and Shug's 1/2 UQ's motivated me to finally get this thing completed. I made it similar to my winter quilt with climashield on the sides. I used 3.7 Combat Climasheild on the sides (green chambers) and 800 down in the 3 middle chambers. I used what I had so I ended up with the multi color quilt.

The baffles are an inch deep and 8"wide. It is 42 X 46 and exactly 8oz before I put the shock cord on. Pack weight with all attachments is 9.2 oz. It is differential cut which makes adjusting a breeze.

We have a little bit of a cold front for this time of year so I got to test in the middle 40's and was plenty warm.

I am going to use for my daughter also who is 46" tall so it will be like a full size for her.

Very Nice. Alsa, one more picece of gear to make. This place is not helping my rehab from gear addiction at all. Oh well, maybe its time for a relaps and place and order at Thru-Hiker. In all seriousness, nice piece of gear. I like the fact that you dont have to worry about down shifting away from your sides with the hybrid design.

I like it too and it is very light. Your deck needs stained though.

    Hey HANGnOUT,
Glad to be part of your motivation.... looks terrific and I like the hybrid idea. Is that because of what you had on hand? Or is there a method to the hybrid design? Do tell. Really nice and light too. Good on ya'! You are gonna love it under your slumber.

Thanks, and its time for a new deck, time & money, I am always short of one or the other!

No, I ordered the climashield to use on this quilt. I noticed on my first 1/2 UQ that I built for my bridge hammock that when I used it on my other hammocks the down would settle on the side chambers. On a full size quilt this would not cause a problem but on these smaller UQ's I needed to utilize every inch. I went with the differential cut and used Climashield on the sides to accomplish this. The Climashield stays in place and I can use the quilt all the way to the edge. This is important on my head side laying asym to keep that shoulder warm.

The link below is to my winter version hybrid 1/2 UQ

I wanted a lighter version for the warmer months and you know how it is after you make your first one, you know you can improve the next one. It never ends!

    Cool thread on that!
Hey by the way, how did you get quotes from 2 different posts on your reply? I am curious about that for a while. Sorry, off topic.

What I do is click the "Quote" button with my middle mouse button so it opens up in a separate tab. Then, just cut and paste.

I just find what I want to copy then click on the quote icon at top of message box and paste between the symbols that show up in the message box. You may have been checking the box at the bottom that quotes the whole message.

That really looks great. Very nice.

How does the suspension system work for a 1/2 UQ?

An alternative way to get multi-quotes is to use the "+ button that is located to the right of the 'quote' button in the lower right of every post. Every time you click that, it adds that given post to a queue, and when you next click the 'post reply' button at the bottom left of the thread all of the queued quotes you chose will be inserted into your post.
