SHT Temperance River SP - Lake County Rd. 6

I returned home on Sat. form a trip to the SHT with Fronkey and a couple of his buddies from FL. We started at Temperance River State Park on Tuesday the 12th and ended Sat. 17th at Lake County Rd. 6 (Section 13).

Temps ranged from 75-25 degrees so, it was quite a swing from mid-day to night. We hiked about 46 miles beginning to end.

All in all it was a great trip but, had 2 noobs to "train" while hiking which makes more work for us!

I won't go into great detail but, here are a few pics from the trip. Fronkey has a few vids of the trip as well so, be sure to check them out as well.

My 8 year old son and I did the Finland Rec Center to Sonju Lake (and back) about a month ago. Egge Lake was Loon central the night we camped there.

Beautiful area. We're so lucky to have it so close to home.
If your lucky enough to be outdoors, your lucky enough!

That is my new favorite section! Egge lake is amazing. I am going to stay at the South Egge site next time.

    Great Pictures!

I like your little furry friend. They sure can be bold when food is involved.

I have never seen the Temperance river gorge so calm, or low. What time of day did you take that picture?

I was very surprised to see how persistent he was...must get fed well
It was taken at about 1pm on 9/12...The trail was very dry and almost every small stream was just a pile of rock.

That's where we camped. I think North Egge would be better for hanging, but it's not as close to the water and the view is not nearly as nice. Keep in mind, we're hanging 2 under 1 tarp, so that's the way I look at sites. That pair of big trees with multiple trunks on one of the pads at North Egge looked perfect for our situation. South Egge was a little trickier, but we got it done.

'Tis a beauty of a hike, though I'm not sure how old the "Old Trapper's Cabin" really is. It didn't look all that old to me, just really broken.

Wife and I stopped in during one of our early rv trips. Parked at Temperance River SP. Came out of Ely, Mn at 95 degrees f hit the coast and temps dropped 20 degrees. One of my favorites was The Devil's Kettle, amazing bit of geology. Spent about 7 days, needed about 7 months.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.

I agree...North would be better for hanging but, the view was so much better at South Egge..I will make it work next time I'm there
I agree! I told Fronkey that the windows looked a little modern for an old trapper's cabin. I guess I had something different envisioned in my head!
