Next year I will complete my first thru hike on the AT, and am taking a hammock.
I'm getting everything together, and I'm at the point where making the hammock is next.
I'm making a Hennesey clone. I'm a larger guy, so I need to make it a little bigger, and stronger than traditional. I'm thinking using two layers of 1.9 ripstop along the bottom should be fine. I figure after a few months on the AT I will no longer have to worry about that though lol.
I've seen some of the pictures of the hammock headchange4u made, and I love it, I'm using his diagrams, but I am going simpler in that the top will be permanent.
I've also seen some of the pictures of the Hennesey taken apart, and I could not make out the numbers for folding the ends, any help there?
I'm not great with a sewing machine, so I have enlisted Mom in this project, she has the fancy sewing machine, and a surger (not sure on the spelling there).
I feel like I am missing a lot of information here, I'm basically taking and making a tube to sleep in, but I have no idea on where to put the ropes, tie outs etc.
So first step, what's the basic shopping list to make a Hennesey Hammock Clone with a double bottom?
Has nobody made a simple pattern to follow since the Hennesey was disassembled in 2007?
I'm going to try and use http://www.diygearsupply.com/ since he is a member on here, and that helps both of us. Do I need to "donate" to this site to get more information?
Thanks guys,
Brad
