    A New Zealand adventure..

    Hey guys,

Well i enjoyed my last day at work on Friday. I now have two weeks to get my stuff together ready for the looooong flight to NZ on the 4th Oct.
The plan is 6 months fly fishing in one of the most stunning places on earth.
Im hoping to buy a 4x4 when i get there and then make my way down to the south island by the beginning of Nov.

My hammock will be the main (preferred) choice of slumber with a tent for when i cant find anything to hang from. Trying to convince mates that i rather sleep outside in the tree's than on their sofa should be interesting but im going to go out of my way to spend my nights in my hammock surrounded by down'y goodness.

I have been tweeking my setup over the summer getting out into the woods as often as i can. Im pretty happy with my current setup though i might make a few changes to deal with the cold spring nights in the valley's of the southern Alps of NZ.

    My current setup:
WBBB 1.7DL with whoopies, toggles and Dutch clips.
    WB Superfly.
Down 3/4 UQ made by "Unsponsored" a UK cottage maker.
UKhammocks XL TQ/UQ combo "The Trev Toaster" that can be laced up as a top quilt or suspended underneath.

I hope to update this thread with lots of photo's and stories and maybe even a few videos!

Thanks to everyone here for all the great information that has lead me to this point, im pretty sure i will converting a few fire side bivvy bag sleepers!

    Cheers
    Trev

What an adventure, Trev! And what a sweet deal: back-to-back summers! Keep in touch!

    Hi Trevlett

I live in the Manawatu and do my wilderness fishing on the Ruakituri River in the Uraweras and the Tararuas. I will be doing several back country trips this summer so give us a yell if you want some company and a bit of a steer on a few spots around this area.

I just came out of the Ruakituri the other day but unfortunately the weather wasnt the best - still caught a few good fish - not quite the twenty to thirty that I would normally get over a couple of days. Got a great hanging campsite back there and hanging out (excuse the pun) to get back.

I live near Palmerston North (Feilding) - email [email protected] or phone text 0275808008.

Highly suggest the 48 hour layover option in Fiji on the way over--helps the legs and the mind plus the scenery isn't bad.
