Too old to sleep in the dirt!

Spent the past weekend sleeping in the dirt with the Boy Scout Troop. I've come to realize that the mid 40's are too **** old to doing that sort of thing. I've lurked here for a while trying to figure things out and decided to take the plunge.

Live here in central Minnesota, I'm a 3 season camper (April to October), so I'm dealing with temps from 20 to 100 seppo. No real desire to hit the cold part of our lovely winters.

Trying to fiqure what type of rig I want, looking at the Henneseys or the Warbonnets. I know that each of these brands has a cult like following, but what I really need to know is which one is most suitable for a side or partial side sleeper? I go around a duece and a quarter and stand around 5'10".

Hoping that Shug will invite me over to check out all of the options and to try out a rig or two (hint, hint, wink, wink)

    Back to lurking

Soon enough us older types will be taking the big dirt nap anyway. Someone here once commented about not understanding why tent folk insist on sleeping where we pee.

Welcome from Kalifornia and I hope you get a chance to try out some of Shug's set ups. If not there are a number of Minasoda types here. P.S. I partial side sleep in my WBBBs and Traveler but have found back sleeping works in a hammock where it does not at home (prolly because there's no wife to elbow my snoring self).

Welcome to the forums from the Sunshine State!

Your best bet before purchasing would be to find someone near you who has a hammock and is willing to let you give it a test run.

You are smarter than I am! It took me until the mid 50's to figure that one out.

If you don't watch out, Shug will have you out with him in minus 20 degree weather!

    Welcome from MD.
I side sleep in a bed - never could sleep on my back. In my WBBB, I usually sleep on my back snuggled to the side or partially on my side with legs in a near side position but not fully on my shoulder. Either way, I am much more comfortable in my hammock than in bed. The only thing I miss is stretching out on my stomach.

    Another side sleeper

    Welcome from Bama!

Yes, I'm another side sleeper. Both at home in my sleep number bed and in my Blackbird. I sleep better in the Blackbird.

No experience in the HH, so I can't comment. But then, why change what's workin'?
