Talking My DIY Project is Done

Well it is finally done! Here is my version of the DYI WBBB Hammock and BlackCat Tarp. I did have the hammock done a few weeks ago but I had to wait to get my final suspension stuff all purchased, built, and worked out before calling it complete. Yesterday I was finally able to finish building the Whoopie Slings, Shock Cord Tarp Tensioners, and get the hammock out for a test hang. Although I wish I could have reaped my rewards of success by taking a nap in the hammock. In place of taking a nap I wanted to show it off to all here on the fourm. I am so excited to have this project done and I am planning a few backpacking trips next spring this hammock will be great to take alone.

Here is some photos of the build, I DIY'd everything. Now I need to add a few other things to really complete the setup. The finial weight for the entire setup that includes the tarp, hammock, suspension, tie outs, tree huggers, and aluminum stakes came to 78.8 oz or approximately 4.3 lbs. My goal was to make this lighter than the single man tent I was using but when I finished I was a little bit heaver then the tent.

Finally, my oldest daughter told me afterwards that I now have to build her one or give her the one I just made and build another one for me. Hmmm... we will see about that. Thanks everyone for the great info on this site.

once you get out on the trail I think you will find the few extra ounces are well worth the comfort increase. (also can lose a few oz by making the next tarp a bit narrower, depending on the expected weather conditions.YMMV, HYOH, etc)
congrats on a fine looking rig! KM

That is very impressive and I love that tarp. Especially the color. Wow, I wish I had the patience to do as good a job.

Now back to the thread...what a wonderful set up and you should be very proud of yourself for all of that work you did. It is beautiful!! If your taking orders, I would be thrilled with purples, pinks, and grays
