Sorry for not responding before now guys, its been a rough and long day. Started out the day sick and called off from work!!!!!! Received my new Incubator from Hammockgear.com and had to give it a try, man is this thing wonderfully warm and well made. This testing resulted in a two hour nap in the yard.:

It will be great to meet you as well. We will see you there

Those are some of the best directions I have heard for the parking location and the way to find camp.

We will make sure that someone is there to meet you and your son.
The race should not affect this weekend as far as camping this weekend. Since most of us will be at the parking area by 4:30 we should miss most of the traffic for the race. and since most of will be headed home while the race is happening on Sunday it should be no issue there as well.

We won't hear the cars going round and round, but the traffic on I-20 will be thick if you wait until late on Sunday to leave.
Last year we had someone blowing their car horn in the parking lot and someone at the camp site heard them (not me ). So, if all else fails, just stand on your car horn for a while and we will come get you. Or better yet, if you can make it into the state park camp grounds, start hollering.
Yeah, honking the horn will work...most likely. And if you walk into the Turnipseed camping area, which you will know, it's got gravel driveway and parking and camp sites, just start yelling or whistling, we will hear ya. Just remember, it's not the actual State Park, that's up on the mountain...about 3 miles north, Turnipseed is actually a hunters camp outside the state park proper.

Near as I can tell, based on my Garmin Base Camp software on my PC, the coordinates for the hang site are roughly N33 26.470 W85 50.207. We will keep an eye out for ya.

I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I intended to be. ~ Douglas Adams
We never really grow up, we only learn how to act in public.
A few years ago B.H. (before hammock), my family and I looked into camping up at Cheaha, coincidentally on Talledega weekend. We found out that the cabins, hotel and campground at Cheaha State park book full nearly as far in advance as can be booked. I would expect this to be one of the busiest weekends at the park. I can't say how that may affect you and on the trail. The population of the area may swell, but they may be less likely to go where you are.
Y'all have fun. I want to hear all about it.

We were there two weeks ago and the creek had water running in it that is right next to the camping spot we have selected. With the rains we have had we should have no issue with water. We will be bringing our gravity filter to the hang.
