AT Springer to Woody Gap (Huge mistake!)

Took this trip starting Saturday and got picked up Tuesday 20th in the afternoon. Pics are mostly of my gear.
One huge mistake! I forgot my tree straps at my first camp. After hiking 10 miles and setting up camp for night two, I realized I left my tree straps. So rather than go back, I decided to McGiever some replacements out of 2.2 Lash It. Thats right, check out the pics and see for yourself. It worked!

This goes out to LoneOak who met me in Chattanooga and gave me the Lash It for a bear line. Came in handy I'd say.

Great pics, good thing you wanted some Lash It. BTW, it was 2.2. I guess 1.75 would have held you tho .........lol
Sorry you forgot your straps, but it all worked out for you. I see you had your bug net hung, did you need it?

Its one of the reasons that my pack leash is made of the same stuff as Whoopie slings, & my belt is made from my first tree hugger, so both will hold my full weight "Just in case". Granted, they are pretty short, but a short hang is better than laying on the ground.
Both also work as extensions, so I can add about 8' to my longest distance with my "Normal" set up.

It's funny how easy it is to forget your tree straps behind. I've been guilty of this a couple times. Great job improvising and glad it worked out for you.

I'm envious of all of the cuben and spinn bling you've got in those pics!

We are going to be doing a quick overnighter from Cooper Gap to Woody Gap. How were the water sources for that stretch? I remember there being restrictions on overnight camping due to bear activity last year. I assume that not an issue anymore?

Not much water at all. Most of the water holes at shelters were barely a trickle. Every time I had to improvise a damming technique in order to pool water. 3 forks creeks were the best water I saw the whole time. Thats actually where my tree straps are still.
I never saw a bear. My shuttle driver (Wes Wisson by the way) said bears are mainly a problem during thru hiker season in the spring.

No I didn't need the bugnet at all. No mosquitoes. But I like being able to throw my stuff into the bottom of the net.
