    Underquilt Edge Finishing

    Hey All,

After suffering a bit of a chill on a recent hike with my 3/4 length UQ, I've realized I seem to be sleeping a bit colder than I used to. At the encouragement of a few locals, I'm going to try my hand at making a full-length UQ. I'm pretty set on the steps, but have a question re: edge finishing.

As a bit of backgorund, I'm planning on running a shock cord channel up both sides using 1-1/2" grossgrain. The shell matrial will be 1.1 ripstop. I know I need to finish the edges in some manner to avoid fraying, and that typically I would roll hem the edges to do this. Question is, do I need to roll hem the edges since I'm using the grossgrain, or is the grossgrain enough to avoid fraying?

Sorry for the long post - hope this is clear.

    Thanks!

    Norm
