    Lightbulb 2-Person Hammocking Solutions

My lovely spouse and I are taking a camping trip in Mid-Oct, and I assumed we'd be ground-dwelling for this excursion. No problem. It has its benefits in the context of a couple in the wild. But, much to my delight she suggested, "We should make this hammock camping!"

Gentle reader, not since the words "I do" had I heard such dulcet tones from the lips of my beloved. I quickly mobilized and got a second WBBB and related gear. But we've wondered aloud: how do two close-hanging hangers hang? A side-by-side arrangement under my single tarp? It'd work. Two parallel tree sets. No problem. Three trees? A V-setup, I could see that. The least likely scenario would be a vertical arrangement. Highly unlikely, but certainly possible. What have you done?

I assure you there will be a trip report with photos!

This one is tough. I have not ever found a great way to set up 2 or 3 hammocks in an ideal way. I have set up bunk style with my 80# daughter above me but not my wife. I have been thinking about trying side by side around larger trees and some sort of spreader to keep the suspension systems apart. It might work but I've never even tried.

I keep looking for better solutions to keep us from going back on the ground (oh no)!

What I've done is hang the straps on the side of the tree instead of the front. So, it spreads the hammocks out a little bit. When is your trip exactly and what tarp are you planning on using?

This past weekend, my girl and I found three trees perfectly spaced.

Yeah, we weren't all cozied up next to each other, but it was close enough that we could both lay in the hammocks and chat until the sun went down.

That was a sweet setup! Congrats on finding such well placed trees.

My wife and I frequently hang together.

This has worked well for us with large trees.

Haven't tried this set-up but may give it a shot.

Most commonly we use a 3 tree hang with the straps on the shared tree as Fronkey describes on the head end and the individual trees for the foot end.

As far as tarps go, we've used the Kelty Noah's 12x12. This shot shows the 3 tree set up and me playing with a tarp.

Posts 20 and 25 on http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=24648this thread also show some multiple hammock set ups.

And one more thread that may give you some ideas here.

What we use now is the Honeymoon Suite by Smokehouse

    Bottom line...

Find some trees, bring lots of line and experiment. Mostly though, have fun.

Like Fronkey, I have tied one hammock to the left side of the tree and one to the right side. This as opposed to the suspension connecting to the middle of the tree.

In addition I hang one hammock about 6" higher than the other. This helps keep hips from bumping.

This past weekend I made it out to the woods. Tied off both hammock and tarps to one tree at one end and two trees 8' apart on the other. Worked quite well.

I have done the 3 trees method with the two trees a foot apart. I hung almost touching the ground and my little brother hung a little more then chair high. Worked great. Tried the same tree deal with my wife he above me and it failed. My ridgeline kept pressing against her. I would have had to hang her much higher and it was already I had to throw her into the Hennessey.
