@Shug: the velcro sure does look cozy, but for my uses would be unnecessary. I meant to ask you though, if you've ever done any hiking (winter or otherwise) in the Agawa canyon near Sault St. Marie? I noticed that you're not too far away from some of the Canadian attractions, and it's stunning! My cousin does a lot of ice climbing there, and said the winter camping in the area can be phenomenal! A great place to put those velcro closures through their paces. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agawa_Canyon
@sky: I would love to see pictures of that when you get it setup for the first time! A custom cuben tarp, sounds like a dream!

I dont know if I can describe it, but I just saw a random photo on the home page that caught my eye and addresses the issue of keeping doors open.

Instead of tieing the doors open like on a tent, the photo showed the corner of the head end folded to the middle and the corner of the foot end folded to the middle. Now for the ingenious part: They were held in place by a short piece of cord hooked into each corner tieout and the tension was adjusted with a cord lock.

Wish I had followed the link to the picture.

    Mr. Clean,
Thats not the one, but it is similar. You can open both ends by attaching the corners to each other instead to the corner stake. I also liked the cord lock that allowed you to adjust the tension.

It is hard to see, but I think that is the idea. The one I saw was a closeup and had orange cord.

Mr. Clean, are you doing a search in the picture gallery? I have never had luck with that.
