Snakeskins on tarp or on hammock?

Being new to hammock camping, I'm in the process of getting my system set up. My system comes with snakeskins and I'm wondering if these should go on the tarp or on the hammock. I've seen them on both in numerous videos and I'm wondering what the pros and cons are of each method.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks.

I had a HH BPUL and the hex tarp. The snakeskins(#4) would fit both the tarp and hammock. That made setup/teardown so fast! But, a wet tarp caused a problem, a wet hammock.
Then I got a WBBB. That will not fit in the skins with the tarp. So I now use the skins for the tarp only. Because the skins are silnylon, they keep moisture in and away from the rest of my gear. I use the blackbishop sack for the hammock.

I have them for my tarp. much easier to deploy when windy or can leave in mesh tube, easy to pack up.

you can see them in my attachment.

The tarp...definitely the tarp. Very fast setup and take down. Great for keeping that wet tarp confined. It's much easier to stuff a hammock in a bag and deploy it than a tarp. With the tarp, just let your guy lines hang and roll the tarp up into the skins. The guy lines rarely tangle this way.

    Thanks for the responses!

Thanks for your responses. It looks like most recommend method is to wrap the snake skins around the tarp. I was thinking this might be the best way to keep a wet tarp contained without getting the hammock wet as well.

    Thanks.

    Just another vote for tarp-in-skins.

I started out bundling my HH and tarp together, but suffered the same problems as others in getting the hammock body wet. So I package mine separately now - Tarps in skins, hammocks in Bishop Bags.

+1 snakeskins on the hammock. The most important thing to protect is your sleeping and warmth gear.

I used to skin both hammock and tarp in the same skins. This was when I used my HH and stock tarp. It was quick, simple and worked fine.

I decided I wanted more coverage and made some changes when I went to a larger tarp.

Now I like the tarp skinned so I can hang it but not deploy it unless the weather warrants.

Like many others I use a Bishop Bag for my hammock, however, skins on the hammock are handy if you like the idea of getting it mostly out of the way while it's still suspeneded. Helpful if several people are congregating underneath in wet weather.

It doesn't matter as much if the tarp gets dirty on the ground.

But why choose when you can have both?
