    Not Exactly Hammock Talk But...

I dunno how many people here are into Computers as well as the outdoors (like me: I'm an Electrical Engineer) but...

I went to the Mountain Laurel Design website today at 10am EST to check out their eVent Gaiters which Raul Perez / Water Monkey said he likes.... I was greeted with a screen stating the website was hacked by TiGER-M@TE.

A little annoying but was pretty funny at the same time.

Not sure if it will be fixed by the time you click the link but here it is. In case you missed it I'm attaching a screenshot of the page to this message.

I wouldn't follow the link if I were you... my Kaspersky blocked it for me. Said the site is trying to load a trojan...

I wasn't worried about any trojans, as my Avast anti-virus does a great job protecting my computer, but at any rate, their web now says "SEPTEMBER 25 2011 MLD WEBSITE IS PARTIALLY DOWN FOR REPAIRS- WE HOPE TO HAVE IT BACK UP SOON THANKS SEPTEMBER 25 2011 MLD WEBSITE IS PARTIALLY DOWN FOR REPAIRS- WE HOPE TO HAVE IT BACK UP SOON THANKS"

I probably should have thought about the trojan business.

    My apologies for that.

Nothing funny about hackers...they're criminals that deserve stoning.

When stories like this pop up, I always feel bitter sweet about it. I remember when hacking, and getting hacked was funny and harmless. There was a time when you might get hacked and someone would just leave a text file for you to read. A sort of "I wuz here" thing. Sometimes I try to remind people that the hackers were on the court playing ball first. Then everyone else walked on and changed the rules. It's too bad that it turned in to this.

    mld

Sucks for MLD and i don't condone hacking, but i'm sure many of the cottage industry websites could use a revamp in web-security and this little incident should only make things better in the long-run.
