    I'm back

I have not be around much lately. As many of you all know and helped me with a while back had my gear stolen and you all helped me and my son get it back. But what you all don't know is not long after I broke my back at work and was laid up for awhile. I was so depressed that I couldn't camp with the boy or help with his Scout troop. I am back on my feet now and will be going on my first outing in the hammocks with the Scouts this month. So just thought I would give you all an update. Wish me luck I am hoping the back will be ok to hang.

Best of luck Bigbogg and a speedy recuperation. Hangin ina hammock is a good cure for all ailments.

Thanks everyone. I have been waiting to be able to go and hang. Did a dry run today. It was a little sore but I think I will be ok. The issue with me right now is trying to keep the cold off my back. It is ruff to keep the pad under me. Or getting a pad wide enough to cover me. I am what some would call extra wide 6 foot 4 inches and around 300 and built wide . Any pointers for me as I can't move to an underquilt right now due to no extra money right now from being off work for a little while and workers cmp not covering everything. Any tips would be a big help.

Welcome back! Glad you're on the mend. I wish I had some suggestions for you for keeping warm, but I've never done cold weather hanging... I bet someone here has some ideas though!

Sorry to hear that. I had to have surgery myself. I fell off a side loading truck and hit my back on the frocks of a forklift. And almost bent in half. But I was so heartbroken that i didn't even want to check out the Forum. But I am feeling better now and can even walk around without my cane( ok I used a trekking pole.) So now I want to get back in my rig and hang. I should be able to get a few more hangs in before the weather turns cold. After I get stuff (bills and such ) paid up I am going to look into a underquilt so I can hang in some colder weather. Thanks again to all of you out there that help me and my son with the gear.
