Really curious on what the auto filter thought that word was. Promise it was not anything to be censored.

Okay, mark your calendars. Let's start the planning. I've never been to that area, so I'd like to hear some expert advice. I'm guessing this will be a pack-in, pack-out group hang -- no car camping bring-your-Dutch-oven-and-eat-in-style option?

I've done a few trails in the area but not this one specific. I can talk with some that have. My son-in law, Bryant, thinks he's done this trail in the past & I'm hoping he'll join us.

As far as the cast iron kitchen, yeah you're right, not unless you bring a mule. From the description some of the 6mi hike is "strenuous". I'll find out what I can, might even do a scout hike, I'll post. There should be good hang spots where the trail traverses the dry creek bed but don't know about the final destination.

A word of warning, either a super pass or Red Rock pass is required I believe. Not saying it is necessary, just saying. I know some including Bryant who hike all over this area without a pass & have never had an issue. I myself have never come across a ranger on the trails accept in Oak Creek around the designated fee camp sites.

Update; I'm told that pass no longer needed since there was a lawsuit won last year that USFS could no longer charge for areas with no facilities.

I never pay much attention to this kinda thing although I do recall reading about this in the RR news. I do the SP simply because I fish & camp Lake Powell often & occasionally take trips to upper rim Grand Canyon.

P.S. The fire road in can be rough. If anyone needs a ride in I can carry up to 6 with gear. Let me know if we need to co-ordinate since I only want to make one trip in ... monster truck=bad gas mileage

I've only got a small car, so if the road is rough, I'll need a ride. I'm coming down from Flagstaff. What's a good meet-up spot? Or, if I come down Thursday, can I hike it?

dejoha, if you drive fast enough you can skim over a good portion of the rough stuff. Humor. I sent you a PM.

I'm assuming we could set up a car-pool from the phoenix area? I too only have a car so I will need a ride if the first part of the road is to far to hike
