    Fascinated newbie

Great to be here. Living and loving NW Arkansas. i'm on my second 50 years of life so this hammock thing has me looking at all the forums and youtube vids on the subject. Friend of mine I met on the Butterfield Trail sent me here. Looking forward to getting off the ground.

The comfort of a hammock really enhances the wilderness experience, as I'm sure you'll come to see.

Welcome Mike! Glad to see you made it.

I ran across Mike two weekends ago on the Butterfield Trail during a driving rainstorm. I'm jealous because he was far better prepared for the wet weather than I was (imagine a duck happily shedding water and a muskrat soaked and cold -- and then guess which critter I was).

I told him everyone here was nice -- so y'all behave now and set him in the right direction.

p.s. on a sadder note: I just heard from SmokeHouse that a hiker died last weekend on the Butterfield trail from a stroke. Although sad, IF its my time, I can't think of a more beautiful place to pass. My condolences to the family.

The road goes ever on and on Down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, And I must follow, if I can, Pursuing it with weary feet, Until it joins some larger way, Where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say.

Hey David, Thanks for the tip on the forum and the warm welcome. Indeed, I heard about the man who died on the trail. Very sad and sorry for his family.

I stayed up way too late last night watching Smokehouse videos on YouTube. I got a nice sense of some of the local hangs near the Buffalo. Looks like a great bunch of comfort loving campers.

Wow that was sad and he was only 28. I assumed he would have been older...you never know...prayers for the family.
