    New hanger in Colorado

Hey folks. I've been lurking around here for a while and sponging off the wealth of information here so I figured I'd finally introduce myself.

I bought a Grand Trunk double for a camping trip because I'd injured my foot and need a comfy place to read while everyone else went hiking. I spent the whole day reading and napping in it with no discomfort at all. Normally I can't sit or lay in one place for that long, so this is what clued me in to hammocking.

I've got a couple of orders for some additional gear and plan on working my way up to making my own down UQ, so I'll probably be asking lots of questions.

Thanks for being so awesome everyone!

Doh! Good point, forgot to totally say what I got! Well, I ordered a Mamajamba from Warbonnet (figured I'd keep it local - also had great prices) and I've got a set of whoopie slings and other assorted bits for projects coming from Arrowhead Equipment (thread, mitten hooks, amsteel and such).

Also, I made DIY tree straps out of 1" webbing from a local store and just bought a couple of tent pole repair thingys to use as toggles. I've found that using my thermarest pad and a regular sleeping bag is adequate, but sub-optimal, so an underquilt is my next major project.

Welcome and look forward to hearing more...

+1 on an UQ being better than a pad.

Next, try a TQ, it is so much better than a sleeping bag. For the record, I used a sleeping bag and/or liner for the past year, so they are better than sleeping in a tent.

Be sure to post and tell us all about it!

Oh yea, welcome to the madness
