    Pigeon river state forest has some of the "wildest" land in the lower P. Herd of 1500 elk there. I would really like to do some exploring there. Just east of 75 south of the bridge.

    Michael Neiger normally puts on a 3-4 day trip in the first weekend of december somewhere within pigeon river. He's with michigan backcountry search and rescue, really nice guy. He normally posts on backpacker.com in the midwest forum.

    i like the peigon river area used to camp there with horses. You can get right up close to the elk on horse back till you make a human noise.
