Rayn and I are going to the Big South Fork Recreation Area for a hike and hang from Oct 26-30. If anyone wants to join up for any portion of the trip just let us know. This will not be big miles each day and we plan to stay at the same campsite Thursday and Friday.

Tentative plan is listed below.

Wednesday

Leave Sawmill Trailhead (west side of park) sometime mid morning and hike about 5 miles on Laurel Fork Creek trail. There are multiple creek crossings on this section. We will camp near the junction of the West Entrance Trail and Laurel Fork Creek Trail.

If anyone wants to join in on Wednesday night or early Thursday they can come in the West Entrance trail with about a 2 mile hike

Thursday-Friday

Hike about 5 miles on Laurel Fork Creek toward the river. There is a nice campsite about a 1.5 miles before the river that we will be using. We will be there Thursday and Friday night.

If anyone wants to come in for either night, the shortest hike is from the Charit Creek trailhead. Start out across the road from the parking lot on Black House Branch Trail (2 miles) to Laurel Fork Creek Trail. Head toward river on Laurel Fork about 2.5 miles to campsite.

Saturday

Finish Laurel Fork Creek trail to the river then take Station Camp Creek trail to Jakes Place on the Twin Arches Loop. I think this is about 7 miles. There are 3 trails that are about 2.5 miles from the trailhead to Jakes Place. You are welcome to join us the last night on trail. The hike from the Twin Arches trailhead to Jakes Place is one of the most scenic hikes in the park

Sunday

Hike out early on Slave Falls Trail to the orginal Sawmill Trailhead
