Visiting Golden, Colorado 23-26 Oct, 2011

Hi all,

I am headed to Golden, Co for a class at the Colorado School of Mines on 23 Oct for a few days. What are some good places to visit (trails and such) in the late afternoon/evening? Are there any mom/pop camping stores to visit? I hate staying in the hotel room when I am traveling so any suggestions would be very helpful. I was stationed at Lowry (Denver) back in the late '80s, early 90s so I am sure it has changed a little since that time.
