No kinding. I bought a ENO Singlenest literally on impulse while visiting the REI store in L.A. about 6 weeks ago.
I've already
1) used my hammock on a multi-day trip in the Northern Cascades,
2) purchased a "backup" hammock to stick in my SUV just in case I find a place I want to hang (sounds weird I know).
3) bought/sold/bought 2 tarps
4) read this forum WAY too much.
5) made a IX UQ w/my wife's help.
6) bought/sold bug nest...now making my own.
7) bought a "knot" book at the half-price bookstore.
8) purchased some whoopieslings and additional cord to make "another" set.
9) rush out to my back yard to "hang" in anticipation of a storm to test my setup.
10) Sold ALL of my ground tent gear (and some mighty good stuff) to pay for this hammock obsession.
11) Getting ready to take a solo motorcycle trip JUST so I can try some more hanging.
12) now studying "ridge lines".
13) now studying "pillows".
14) DOES IT EVER STOP??
To be honest, I think Hammocks attract me basically because 1) much more comfortable 2) different and 3) way more techie than I ever imagined...right down my alley.

It's only an addiction if 'yer trying to quit !! ... Rehab is for quitters !!
Walking into the asylum and asking for help ??? ... Yes ... Welcome to the asylum ... where else can you talk about hanging yourself ... and then get the info on how to do it better ... longer ... safer .. warmer ..

Its nice to know I'm not alone here, I have been telling so many people about the magical sleep one can get through the use of a hammock, converting a lot of people (I work for REI)

No not corporate, I'm an outfitter, I sell the gear and teach outdoor skills of many kind, (now including a bit of hammock talk, which will lead to a full on hammock clinic, when I'm ready and have learned enough to do that)
I plain to get REI more involved in the hammock gear, but that will take time, I only work at the store level, I can have an impact on the gear sold, every voice counts at REI, the company really is a co/op in every way, no corprate BS, so give me time.
but lets not stray off the addict subject.
Addict support is right here, brother.
You have taken the first step and admitted your addiction, now all that is left is to step away from the gear.... or better and safer for you is probably to give it me. Don't worry I am a trained professional and know how to deal with these situations.
Yest, we call them group hangsIs there a hammock additiction support anywhere?
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !
