Thumbs up VIDEO: Bluefin's Solo Overnight Hike Part One

I just noticed that one video scene plays a second time from 9:04 to 11:27. I'm working on an edit...please bear with me.

    Hey Gang,

I just did an overnight hike from Tors Cove to LaManche on the East Coast Trail in Newfoundland. It was only about 10 kilometres but it was my first hiking overnight.

I have hiked and camped quite a bit and sometimes alone but never did a hike and overnight on my own totally unsupported. It was great and I learned quite a bit on this trip. It got dark before I reached my campsite but I was quite familiar with the trail. Used my dehydrated meals that I made my self. Used one Mountain house dinner to try it out and is was surprisingly good ( I was hungry )

The hammock gear worked great. I have used this many times before. The only thing I really need now is a water filter of some sort. I did take 3 1/2 litres of water with me but that was quite heavy.

My base weight minus food and water was just over 15 pounds. My sleeping bag is 3 pounds on it's own. I will be replacing it with a burrow from Hammock gear soon.

The weather was good and I had a good time. I took a video that is about 27 minutes long so I broke it into 2 parts. I will post the second video as soon as it loads to You tube.

Hope you watch and please comment

Really enjoyed watching your hike this morning. Even mo'tickled to see part two was loaded after finishing part 1! Fantastic location. Loved the bridge and falls. What's the story on the foundations?

WARNING: Will discuss Rhurbarb Strawberry Pie and Livermush at random.

    Glad you enjoyed it.
Up until about 1969 there was a fishing village there. A storm washed out the bridge and many of the wharves and fishing flakes and a few houses. The foundations were from the houses. There were no injuries or deaths from the storm but the community was moved after this. There was one house left standing until only a few years ago.
    Take care,

Good idea... off the rig and into the woods. Good idea for storing a map. Thanks for stopping and listening to the silence. That house has seen better days. Post the photo of the house when it was still standing. Thanks for the video!

Thanks for sharing Bluefin! Some beautiful country you've got there, was interested to see the foundations of those old homes and the stories surrounding them.

    Cheers

Enjoyed your video. It's great seeing beautiful country in different parts of the world!
