I've done that too. Out of concern for the forces on those stitches, I run three stitches in close parallel formation on each side. Challenges the straight stitch making capabilities.

I wasn't going to say anything. Them what live in glass houses....

I was pretty happy with the way the splicing turned out. Having made all of one set of whoopies and some simple unlocked splices for DIY bridge #1, the double end locked brummels were a bit of a challenge. I later found a diagram for making a locked brummel with only the free end, but it involved turning the amsteel inside out (twice) and made my brain feel like it was being turned inside out.

Carbon tubing....

The bonus of using white fabric was that light pencil lines show up well and make sewing in straight lines much easier. I only used a single line of stitches for the pad pocket and did not perceive of much stress on this line of stitches. Seems that the bottom layer carries all the weight when the pad is in place. The top layer over the pad pocket stays pretty loose.

Well there are still a few loose threads, but it is improved compared to DIY #1.

Hahaha. Yes I was going for a modern look! That and it was the only color polyester taffeta with a known fabric weight I could find!

Maybe it will be the winter commando hammock...
I thought about drawing eyes and a mouth and calling it the ghost in honor of Halloween...

I've just been hoping someone more motivated & talented with the thread injector would do it

It isnt that mentally disturbing if you can watch someone do it.....

Nice looking Bridge... I still dont know why no one else other than JRB isnt dropping these things in the marketplace.

Thanks Opie. That video helped. How hard is it turn the cord inside out and back when using smaller cord? Well, never mind, I'll just have to try it tomorrow.

If I thought there was honestly a way to make my current income making hammocks I would be all over it. I really enjoy the process.

Criminy! I can't get hammocks off the brain!

Ordered some new fabric (1.1oz/sqyd nylon), dynaglide, and (took a chance) some carbon fiber tubes for spreaders. Getting killed on shipping for the CF tubes.
But may be able to drop the weight by ~6-8oz total if my calculations are correct.

Will update when the next job is complete.
