Amsteel Blue - ship to Europe

I'm looking for somebody that could buy around 60ft of amsteel blue (1/8" or 5/32") for me and send it in a regular envelope to Belgium/Europe.. More is ok too, as long as fits an envelope of some sort and the price is right. I'd pay up front (and hope whomever helps me out will actually send me the rope ) with paypal for the rope+shipping. Regular envelope shipping shouldn't be too expensive I hope.

The ebay shop I got it from last time, doesn't have it any more. I tried finding it over here in other places, but prices are very high IF they have it at all. I tried an alternative, which was stronger for the same diameter as the amsteel, but it didn't work out well since the spliced rope slipped out of itself during transport or setup (too little stress made it slip ).

Anyway, thanks to anybody who can help me out!

(I don't want to buy from a retailer directly because they want me to buy for at least 50$ and shipping is too high - Starting from 30$ (product + shipping) my country is allowed to add 33$ to the price for rendering me the service of offering it to customs (we don't get the option of doing it ourselves to avoid this cost). After that they add on another 21% to the total (product + shipping + offering to customs service = total).

@Backtrack - thanks, I sent a mail. It does say they don't ship internationally though... And I also can't find 1/8" or 5/32" amsteel blue on the site, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Wow, sounds like it would be better to buy a round trip airline ticket to the States and pack it back with you.

I feel for people who can't get items in their own country, must be a serious pain.

@Catavarie - It especially sucks when you're a tinkerer like me. I have to get real creative to make the things I want to because I can't get half of the material that is listed in most DIY guides. There's something good about it too though: it just puts a big grin on my face when I notice people are willing to help out total strangers living on the other side of the planet just because they can.

And now the good news: I'm getting my string! Thanks Backtrack for the sound advice & a big thanks to Marty for coming through!

Started reading and was going to offer some 7/64 in black, if that was going to help, but I finished reading and see that you are set.

Roadrunnr72 - thanks for considering it! I've just received the string, so *jeeeeej*.

Time to make some whoopies & soft shackles & to replace the straps on my chrysalis.

    I love this forum!

Hi Kreecher, could you tell me what you finally got and @ what total cost ? I'm in the same situation, looking for 1/8 pref. and it's really madness so see what amounts end up in shipping. I would rather like to see that money in the pocket of the cottage manufacturers than USPS.

In the future I plan to buy another tarp, UQ, maybe hammock, sleeves. All would come from different places and I hate to see 25% going for shipping instead of accessories. When the time is right, I hope that one of the suppliers will agree to collect the goods from others and make one single shipment, as CONUS shipping is often included.

Not sure why you had trouble with european braid, I've made and used whoopies from just about all the dfferent manufacturers with success with all of them.

I actually rate our UK lines higher than amsteel. The slipping you found happens with English braids dynamic line in 2mm size because its softer and the urethane coating is rubbing off. It stops after the first use or two.

Did you extend the bury slightly to make up for the thinner line?

If you want Amsteel blue, UK hammocks sell it in the UK.
